Can you describe the criminal? He had a Bible on him!

That's right. In an article by Todd Starnes titled "Man Facing Jail For Hosting Home Bible Study" it tells how an Arizona man is going to jail for 60 days for not having the right zoning permits for his weekly bible study. Okay, I can understand that if there is a law that prohibits certain weekly activities for fire safety reasons, but the first thing you arrive at is a 60 day jail sentence? That guy has 5 kids! Sure, lets let the illegal immigrant that is a felony for abuse and drug possession go because its racist to hold him and check for I.D., but then they arrest the family man practicing religion in his home and throw him in jail for 60 days? That's justice? This is wrong on so many levels. What if there was a BBQ at his home every weekend, does it violate the zoning permits then? This is a clear attack on Christianity once again. Another reason to drive anyone to insanity in America today. My heart goes out to the family.

New Blog Still Under Construction, Bead Continues

Due to my wonderful foresight Tuesday I did not realize that I would be out and away from my computer to celebrate the 4th of July. As a result today is my return to full duty. Since I live in Utah there have been political storms (the only type of storms in Utah as of late) brewing recently due to the allowance of fireworks for the 4th of July. The Governor of Utah was even considering a ban on fireworks. My response after watching my backyard catch on fire yesterday evening in Sandy and Highland Dr. is put a ban on fireworks. People have proven this year that they are stupid when it concerns the outdoors (this means you target shooters) and failed yet again to use common sense when using fireworks. I don't like the government whenever it gets involved in daily affairs, but this is one exception I can agree with.

BEAD: UPCOMING NEW BLOG

While the name of this upcoming blog from the popular Blogger website is not yet known, what is known is that this new blog will focus on the bead of politics and the insanity that politics brings to our daily lives. It will be a great site that will focus on the newly updated news of the day, focusing on one or more political events or news that once again drive Americans to the brink of insanity. A brief example of what is to come comes from the Fox News website a story titled "Despite safety concerns, more golf carts hitting the road to save owners some green," is about how people are saving money on gas by driving their golf carts... on highways! This is what our estranged and unpopular energy department has "driven" us to, driving golf carts on highways. Tune in tomorrow for another edition of this political bead.

UVU Review Impression

Last semester I had an opportunity to meet with an editor in the sports section of the UVU Review and he was able to bring a portfolio of some of his papers to the Review. It was fascinating to see that ordinary college students can be a part of this. The same applies now. I found the information to be helpful again, especially with the new Deseret Connect information. I was very impressed with the tour. This did not happen with the last speaker last semester and it was helpful to know exactly where they meet and when is a good time to swing by the office. I had tried to meet up with an editor before, but I was never on campus when they were and it was slightly frustrating. I also was impressed with the extensive knowledge both of the representatives had of the program and the paper. They were very quick and honest when responding to questions, and I felt that all of my questions were answered satisfyingly. I have wanted to this for a few weeks now and so I am excited with the opportunity to go and participate, and gain whatever knowledge I can about what it takes to be a writer.

Why I Want To Be a Journalist

The topic of journalism is not a very popular topic when it concerns making a career out of it. Every class I have taken and every person I talk to that is a journalist mentions how hard it is to be a journalist and how little you make compared to how much you work. So why be a journalist? There are two main reasons I want to be a journalists. The first is I love to write and read and journalism is the perfect opportunity to use both of those talents. The second reason is that I feel this is the time to be in journalism. Everything is unstable now, but when it settles it will be the perfect opportunity for those that have survived the change to get ahead in the world of journalism and the internet. There will always be a desire for news and journalism will be my ticket to experience the effects first hand.
